So I started last October as a fresher at the University of Reading (post on my main blog here) living in St Patrick's Hall aka Pats. I'm actually still here and haven't yet gone home for the Summer despite finishing my exams on the 12th June since I've loved it here so much. Hands down this has been the best year ever and I'm so so glad that I decided to come here despite it not being my first choice.
I know a lot of you will be going through the agonising pain of waiting for your A level etc results right now and expecting to get into your firm choice university so if you want me to do a post on my experience on this, let me know!
Anyway, so I've spent the last nine months in this pretty standard university accommodation and loved every second because of the people I have been lucky enough to meet and live with. The green t shirts we are wearing in the top photo are our pats tops, we wear them on nights out where we rep our halls, a bit like if you have houses in school, there is rivalry and chanting. We are a pretty large, but tight, group because our halls is laid out in long corridors rather than flats so we are not secluded from anyone.
This August I will be going to Mississippi for a semester to continue my degree at Ole Miss and I am so excited! I hope to use this as a place to document what I get up to and how I find living in America.
Freshers was amazing, so exciting and exactly as crazy as you'd expect. Going out every night, meeting new people and dressing up for all the different themes is something I was looking forward to anyway, but looking back, after a year of continuous going out every week, I'm not sure how any of us managed to last every night for two weeks.
Most of these photos are from standard nights out during and just after freshers, the one above is from my birthday night out which I loved! Going out, of course, has been a major part of first year but something that won't be a part of my university experience when I study in the states.
Don't want this to be too lengthy so I'll leave you with some photos from our Summer Ball, the last formal of our first year at Reading. So happy I've met some of the best people here, can't wait to meet some more in America but then return to my Pats family!!
Thank you for reading, I aim to post on here frequently leading up to and during my stay in Mississippi.
Let me know if you want me to post on anything in particular.
Em x
