Halloween spirit started on Tuesday night during a big storm when I thought Trails had been hit by lightning and the power went out. I called Hillary almost in tears to come and pick me up and she let me stay at her house and cuddle her dogs which calmed me down a lot!
The following night was supposed to be drunk Wednesdays but no one was really rowdy so me Heather and Mikayla called our friend Jesse who said he'd pick us up and take us on a tour of the tunnels in the cemetery. Creeeeepy but interesting!
The tunnels looked like this the whole way down. We didn't reach the end but we got a good feel for the area haha
While we were there, we also got to see Oxford's only tourist attraction which is the grave of William Faulkner (very famous writer if you didn't know) and as lit students, me and Heather appreciated this. It made us think back to our American Lit tutor's seminars on Faulkner's works so Peter Stonely, this is for you.
The next night was the night before Halloween and a weekly even we like to call thirsty Thursdays. Usually a girls night out but we're open to new recruits. In halloween spirit, we decided to don some black eyeshadow and fake blood (which is now all over my bathroom and doors and floor and bedding and towels and walls, classic)
We went out to the bars and none of them actually seemed that busy so we just brought the party with us and we're able to dance the night away as if no one was looking. Which they weren't, cus everywhere was dead. Oooh get it, dead?!
Anyway, the few others that were at the same bar as up actually each came over to us and asked if we were okay and one even asked if I'd been in a knife fight!
On actual halloween, we got all dressed up again and me Heather, Olivia and our friend Cole headed for the frat parties.
We hadn't been at KA for long when Char rang me and I went out to meet her but while we were queuing to get back in the police came and shut the party down. So we went to Phi Tau in search of warmth and a lift home. Jesse managed to find the house and take us home and invited us to a party he was going to but instead me and Char went over to my friends house where we carried on drinking and went to get McDonalds.
Halloween isn't really that mental here, not like you'd imagine anyway. But I enjoyed seeing what everyone has been doing in Reading on your snapchats and stuff, everyone's outfits and make up looked really good!
To top of the week, our temperatures here hit sub zero, while we were sat outside watching the game (again, don't wanna talk about it)
But tailgating was fun as always. And we'll get used to the adjustment from temperatures of 28 degrees down to -2 in the same week. Mississippi is crazyyyy
This time tomorrow, my mum and Ed will almost have landed in America so I will be sure to post about their visit! Can't believe they're actually coming!!!
Speak soon
Em x
