The next day we woke up nice and early and packed up ready to go to Taylor’s hometown. We even packed up her cat Fox in his new backpack and took him on the train!
When we arrived Taylor’s mum Kathy picked us up on her way back from a few days at the shore house so that worked out perfectly. We got home and it was so nice to catch up with her parents. Taylor hadnt seen them for a couple of weeks either so we took some time to chat and chill and Kathy even did my laundry! Taylor and I drove out to a great cafe named beanbury that i really wanted to try. I got a toffee brûlée iced latte and Taylor got honey cinnamon- such cool flavours.
We quickly stopped by her sister Kaitlyn’s house to let her dog out before she got back from work and then went back home to give Kathy her coffee too. We chilled for a second and made sure we had everything packed as later on we would be leaving for a road trip.
The best part was going back to Kaitlyn’s house as she had made dinner for us! I was so excited to see her again and meet her little boy Mikey. Mikey was so cute and omg that kid does not stop! We played on his new trampoline for a while and then went inside for dinner- homemade black bean burgers. So good!! I played some more with Mikey and his toys while Taylor’s parents went back to put all the stuff in the truck ready to go. They came back to pick us up a while later and we were off!! 3 hours to upstate new york.
The journey didn’t seem too long as we were looking through all our pictures together. By 10pm we arrived at the cabin in the woods. It was difficult to appreciate in the pitch black but we heard the owls and went inside. Wow this place is so beautiful!
I was so excited to finally be here. They had built the lodge after I had visited last time and throughout the pandemic. I’ve heard so much about this place and was desperate to stay here. Taylor’s dad Bill had got me some American bud so we drank some of those on arrival and sat around the table talking until midnight! It was so nice and getting to sleep was easy. The beds are so comfortable and the surroundings are so peaceful. I felt very lucky and couldn’t wait to wake up here the next day.
