This is gonna be quick, like the last time I slept, but I'm here at my final stop of my American Adventure. These past 5 weeks have gone by so fast and I've done so much but I did it. Planned it and earned for it and booked it and now I've traveled it. It might not seem like a lot to some, but it means a lot to me that I have been able to come back to my favourite country in the world and visit so many amazing people and places. I've been determined to return and see more of the state since the minute I left my apartment in Mississippi and in under 2 years I've managed to done just that. And it's been the ultimate experience for me.
I left San Fran at 8.30pm to catch my overnight flight to Newark, NJ. It was a strange situation as I didn't get to go home to my bed after not sleeping on the flight, instead all my days merged into one as I lost 3 hours of the night but I powered through and continued my trip.
I met Taylor and Will outside my terminal at the airport and they drove us to Randolph which is Taylor's home town. We got the biggest Jersey bagels for breakfast and I had to grab a coffee too. I just knew how chilled it would be to stay with Taylor, her whole outlook on life is to go with the flow, now stress and take life as it comes which is exactly what I need right now. To just chill with one of my favourite people and do whatever we want when we want.
We stopped by Taylor's family home to see her mum briefly before she had to leave to teach a credited exercise class at a local university. As we pulled up to the house, I'm greeted by a massive hug from her mum and this amazing sight. Love it!
I was able to do all my camp laundry at the house and we chilled while we waited which was nice, then we drove over to Rutgers university and we took a walk around one of the five campuses. It's different to Ole Miss and Taylor lives in a prime location on this campus but it's a nice vibe here. Classes just started a week ago so all the welcome activities are still going on, it's really cool to see another American university.
We went back to her house to sort some things out and I met her 3 roommates who are so nice! Her roommates all went to class and Taylor went to the gym. I began to watch some tv but I ended up falling a sleep for an hour or so!! I got up when i realised and Taylor apsaid I had to get a fat sandwich while I am here. Dinner sorted.
Inside was fries, onion rings, marinara sauce, mozzerella sticks, scrambled eggs, lettuce and tomato. What a combo! It was so so good.
We got back to the house after eating and sat outside on the balcony. Having discovered a train station on campus I made a half spontaneous decision to go into New York City tomorrow so I spent the rest of the evening figuring out my plans.
It's so great to be reunited with Taylor but it sort of doesn't seem real as we planned this way back when she was still in England! I'm so glad I've been able to come and visit her world here though! It's gonna be a great final few days in the U.S. Tour feels like a lifetime ago!!
Speak soon,
Em x
