On our last day in San Francisco, Danae and I struggled to wake up early but spent some time face timing Hana and getting ready to check out and meet Danae's friend Mel lives in the area.
After driving round town for a while and only finding long waits for the breakfast places, we eventually stopped at Mel's diner and the Mission district. I got coffee and a breakfast burrito and oh my god it was so good! We talked for a while and Danae got to catch up with Mel while I got to know her more.
She then drove us to pier 39 to meet the remaining members of our tour group. The were actually at pier 43 getting seafood so we met them there and decided to all go back down to Mission to walk around and see more of what it's like.
We came across this alley of wall murals which was super cool but in general I wasn't a massive fan of the area.
We continued to walk all around, headed in the direction of The Castro district, but stopping often to see the shops. We got coffee and bagels in a cafe in the late afternoon and then Danae, Emma and I decided to use the wifi while we had access to get an uber back to the main part of town, ready for them to go to the airport. We said emotional goodbyes once more, this time for real and drove away.
I still had a while before my flight so I went down to Union Square and the mall to do some window shopping and grab some food and then I got myself a taxi to the airport ready for my flight to New Jersey.
I have to reflect on what a great experience this tour has been. From seeing the amazing scenery and nature of the West, to meeting new friends from all over Europe, I have gained a lot both physically (in t shirts) and mentally. Thank you to everyone in the group who made it so unforgettable. See you in the not too distant future.
Speak soon,
Em x
