Day 3: Viva Las Vegas

I decided to kick start our Vegas day in style with a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Literally the coolest thing I've ever done hands down.

Our pilot was called Alex and he flew us right from the South rim all the way up to the North rim which is about 1500ft higher. We got to see some of the rock formations much closer than would other wise be possible and the Colorado river and even some wild horses and byson by the rim. The way landscape goes from forestry to the deep canyon in one huge drop is just something you don't get to experience without the helicopter. We flew right over the rim and put above the canyon. It was really unbelievable.

It was time to get on the road to Vegas after and a short while into the drive we took Route 66 and stopped for this photo op.

We stopped a bit further down the route in the town of Seligman which is pretty much the only civilisation on Route 66 and it feels like it's literally been left behind in history. It's also the inspiration for Radiator Springs, the town in the movie Cars.

We got burgers from a really cool place where the banter was real soo got a selfie with this guy.

Another couple of hours drive later, we pulled into Vegas seeing all the sights, hotels and roller coasters.

After showering at the hotel, we went out to explore the city. We walked down the hotel strip and into the Venetian hotel but we were pushed for time so went for dinner by the hotel.

We all ordered the same thing, ate and get ready for our night in Vegas.

We were treated to a party bus tour round Vegas, stopping to see the light show on Freemont Street, the Vegas sign and the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel.

On of our tour guides dressed up in the crazy outfit and got the best view for the ceiling light show. The unicorn is called Gillian and is our newest addition to the group. We go everywhere together.

We were supposed to go to a club in the Bellagio but our group got split up so instead we went round some of the casinos and hotels and walked down some of the side streets until 2am when we decided to get some sleep in our much appreciated hotel rooms!

Vegas didn't quite go to plan but it is a fun place if you know where to go and time it right! I would love to go back and stay in one of the fancy hotels, see some shows and do the casinos and clubs properly. I hope that me and my Auntie Ann can come and do Vegas properly, she's done it recently and knows her stuff!

Until next time,

Em x
